Persuading Job Candidates to Consider Relocation

One reason some companies are having trouble recruiting top employees is relocation. In a Boston Globe article by Diane E. Lewis, she writes that professionals in demand are least likely to accept a job in another city or state if their children or spouses will be negatively affected by the move.

Quoted in the article is Marion Toon, an associate with the architectural design firm, ZweigWhite in Natick, Massachusetts, who says companies should:

  • Include the spouse in the recruiting process. "If the spouse is not sold on the opportunity and the area, the move will not happen."
  • Set up an appointment with a local Realtor after the interview and have the Realtor give the top candidate a tour of the area.
  • Offer candidates information about the local school system. This will help to ensure a smooth transition for the chosen candidate's children.

You may be happy to know that Above & Beyond Relocation Services (ABRS) provides all of the above and much more at no fee. How do we do it? It's simple. Provide ABRS the opportunity to assist your job candidates who are homebuyers (immediate or down-the-road). Home sales are the way we are funded.
