Rental Assistance

As a courtesy service, leasing assistance resources are provided exclusively to those job candidates, new hires and transfers referred directly by recruiting personnel within Arizona State University, The University of Arizona or a Company contracted with Above & Beyond Relocation Services (ABRS).

We suggest that you keep in mind what we have learned from the leasing experts through the years:

  • There is no one central listing of all rental properties.
  • Each company listed has its own leasing inventory. This inventory may vary greatly among companies.
  • Each apartment community and landlord has requirements for leasing. Please expect the following:
    1. Credit check.
    2. Verifiable income. Landlords often expect monthly income to be 2½ to 3 times monthly rent
    3. Application fee. This could be anywhere from $35-$100
    4. Security deposit. These can range from $150 to one month's rent, required upon move-in with the first (and sometimes last) month's rent.
    5. Cleaning & Administrative Fees are usually non-refundable and range from $150 to $250.
    6. Pets. It is most likely that you will have to pay a Pet Fee ($150-$500) and Pet Deposit ($150-$500), per pet. Monthly pet rent can range from $15 to $25 per month.
  • Unlike the careful match we are able to make with a real estate agent from our team when one is ready to purchase, contact will most likely be made with a variety of leasing agents.
  • While leasing agents typically only have time to show properties to those ready to rent now, they are willing to educate one about the area's rental market via phone or email.
  • A rental listed while on your first visit to our city may not be available once you are ready to lease, so plan accordingly.
  • Most property managers are able to "hold" a rental for only a short period of time when a deposit is paid.
  • Peak season occurs November through April, with January through March especially busy -- particularly for furnished rental requests. Rental rates can reflect the demand for properties during this time.
  • There is a greater availability and sometimes great specials and incentives offered during the summer months.
  • Numerous apartment communities have been converted to condominiums, thus adding to the shortage of apartments to lease.
  • Describe your leasing parameters as specifically as you can, but allow for some flexibility.
